Job description
Overview

PV Farm inspector is based at Bestari Solar (“Project”) located in Bestari Jaya, Selangor (“OnSite”). The role is responsible for all project sites including up to the connection point of BSSB Interconnection Facility (IF). The role is involved in construction activities to ensure compliance with specifications and quality requirements by monitoring the contractor’s QAQC implementation and documentation as per the EPCC requirements. The role also assists the Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) officer by reporting safety incidents, issues and practices done by the Contractor in relation to the construction stage, and assists in testing and commissioning activities of the Project during construction stage. It includes performing daily routine inspections, repairs, preventive and scheduled maintenance activities of the Project equipment/installations as assigned in accordance with Contract requirements and prudent practices; monitoring, reporting and assisting on improvement of operating equipment/installations to ensure reliable and dependable quality services with minimum disruption to operation. The role conforms to statutory and legal requirements such as OSHA, FMA, EQA, ISO 9001/14001, OHSAS 18001, Employment Act, Electricity Supply Act 1994, etc. It is the authorised person for Permit to Work (PTW) during construction and operation of the Project. It also involves overseeing daily construction activities to ensure compliance with safety standards and project specifications and updating relevant supervisors and project management when required; and assisting liaising with BSSB minority shareholder when required.

  • SITE SUPERVISION
  • Construction and Commissioning Stage – Assist the Supervisor on construction activities to ensure compliance with specifications and quality requirements by monitoring the contractor’s QAQC implementation and documentation as per the EPCC requirements.
  • Raise Non-Conformance Report (NCR) or Observation Report (OR) on any safety violation or quality issue.
  • Assist SHE Officer by reporting safety incidents, issues and practices done by the Contractor in relation to the construction stage.
  • Execute inspection activities of the Construction Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) by comparing collected data with Contract requirements, OEM recommendations and standards.
  • Assist in testing and commissioning activities of the Project.
  • Assist inspection works on equipment, installations, spare parts and special tools delivery to ensure adequacy and correctness as per the EPCC approval list.
  • Assist in reviewing and verifying the EPCC punch list and other close-out documentation.
  • Maintain regular reporting to the immediate superior.
  • Participate in technical training provided by the EPCC Contractor and OEMs.
  • Assist the immediate superior in carrying out daily routine preventive maintenance to ensure Plant equipment/installations are maintained at optimal performance and efficiency, including: i) inverters, test equipment, mounting structures, floats and other equipment/installation in the Solar Plant; ii) operate and maintain the Solar Plant in accordance with contractual obligations and prudent practices; iii) record and register O&M activities for documentation; iv) execute O&M tasks per OEM recommendations and standards to meet Contract requirements.
  • OUTAGE INSPECTION & SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE Scope: Participate in planned outage inspection and maintenance activities as per Solar Plant’s Annual Outage plan.
  • EQUIPMENT/INSTALLATIONS SPARE PARTS INVENTORY Scope: Identify ongoing critical spare parts requirements and assist in maintaining adequate safety stock to avoid operation and equipment downtime.
  • WORKING TOOLS INVENTORY Scope: Identify tool requirements, maintain an inventory list and ensure tools are in safe working condition; maintain good inventory ownership; report damage and request repair or replacement.
  • INTER-DEPARTMENTAL SUPPORTING SERVICES Scope: Develop and foster a close working relationship with inter-departmental colleagues and provide good supporting services at all times.
  • OTHER AD-HOC ASSIGNMENTS Scope: Perform other tasks relevant to company objectives as assigned.
  • Knowledge / Experience / Skills / Competency required
  • Qualification & Experience: Possess at least a Certificate/Diploma in Electrical / Electrical (Power) Engineering from a recognized and accredited local technical college/institute/university. At least a minimum of 3 years experience in solar farm.
  • Specialized/ Technical skills/ Knowledge required: Hands-on with analytical and supervisory skills; team player; good communication and reading skills; able to write and speak in Bahasa Malaysia and English; knowledgeable in safety and health procedures.
