Job Purpose

To provide accurate and timely surveying support for railway construction activities, ensuring precise setting out, measurement, and data collection in compliance with project specifications and industry standards. You play a key role in supporting engineering, construction, and quality assurance teams to achieve project deliverables efficiently and safely.

Educational Qualifications
  • Diploma or Degree in Geomatics, Land Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Certification in surveying instruments and software will be an added advantage.
Experience
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in land surveying, preferably in railway or infrastructure construction projects.
  • Experience in using Total Station, GPS, Auto Level, and other modern surveying instruments.
  • Familiarity with railway alignment, track geometry, and earthwork surveying will be highly regarded.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct topographic and as-built surveys for railway track and associated infrastructure.
  • Perform accurate settings for construction activities, including earthworks, track laying, structures, and utilities.
  • Collect, process, and maintain survey data for use in design and construction.
  • Collaborate with engineering, construction, and quality teams to verify alignment, levels, and dimensions as per approved drawings.
  • Ensure all surveying activities comply with relevant safety and quality standards.
  • Prepare and maintain survey reports, drawings, and records.
  • Manage and maintain surveying equipment, ensuring calibration and functionality.
  • Assist in resolving discrepancies or issues related to land boundaries or construction layouts.
  • Support the Survey Manager in planning and coordinating daily surveying tasks.
  • Liaise with subcontractors and third-party survey teams when required.
  • Perform any other duties and ad hoc tasks as assigned by the Survey Manager or project management team from time to time.
Requirements & Skills
  • Strong knowledge of surveying principles, methods, and equipment.
  • Proficient in survey software such as AutoCAD, or similar.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, maps, and specifications.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team-based environment.
  • Physically fit and willing to work in outdoor construction site conditions.
  • Willingness to travel or relocate to project sites as required.
