Job summary

A leading safety solutions provider in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a certified Safety Officer to assist in managing the QESH management system. The ideal candidate will have a Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, a DOSH certification, and at least 3 years of relevant experience. Responsibilities include promoting safety practices, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and conducting inspections. A commitment to environmental health and safety is essential in this role.

Qualifications

  • Assist the Safety Officer in managing the QESH management system.
  • Implement all policies, activities, and procedures for the QESH management.
  • Oversee the prevention of work-related injuries and ill health.
  • Ensure compliance with client and legal requirements.
  • Promote ESH awareness and conduct inductions.

Skills

Knowledge in environmental and OSH statutory and regulatory requirements

Job description
Responsibilities
  • To assist the Safety Officer in preparation, implementation, monitoring and maintenance of the QESH management system.
  • To implement all policies, activities, procedures, instructions as relevant and required by the QESH management system.
  • To take overall responsibility for prevention of work-related injury and ill health as well as providing safe healthy workplaces and activities at head office and project site.
  • To take overall responsibility for protecting the environment and preventing pollution at workplaces and activities at head office and project sites.
  • To comply with client and applicable legal and other requirements.
  • To implement plan actions from risks and opportunities assessment.
  • To promote ESH awareness and conduct induction.
  • To implement and monitor ESH programs at work sites.
  • To monitor and control subcontractor’s ESH practices.
  • To enforce the use of personal protective equipment, and continuously improve ESH practices at workplace.
  • To enforce the provision of fire-fighting equipment and first aid kits at workplace.
  • To attend to, investigate and report any ESH emergency, accidents, near miss accidents, incidents, dangerous occurrence, occupational poisoning or diseases at the workplace.
  • To conduct ESH inspection and internal audits.
  • To collect, analyze and maintain statistics on accidents, dangerous occurrence, occupational poisoning or diseases and ESH impacts at the workplace.
  • To assist the department heads, Project Managers, personnel and workers on day to day implementation of the QESH management system.
  • To undertake any and all other duties and responsibilities as so instructed by the superior.
Requirements
