Site Engineer (Civil/Structural) — Melaka (International Contractor)
Position Summary
We are seeking a hands‑on Site Engineer to support day‑to‑day site execution in Melaka. This role suits a practical problem‑solver who can drive site progress, coordinate multiple parties, and communicate clearly with consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams. Minimum 5 years’ site experience is required. Experience in hospital projects, roads, bridges, or major infrastructure is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Execution & Supervision
- Supervise daily site activities to ensure works are executed according to approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and project schedule.
- Coordinate and monitor subcontractors, direct workers, and suppliers to maintain productivity and quality.
- Ensure resources (manpower, materials, machinery) are planned and deployed efficiently.
- Problem Solving & Technical Support
- Identify site issues early (constructability, sequencing, access, interfaces) and propose practical solutions.
- Assist in technical clarifications, shop drawing coordination, and resolving discrepancies between drawings and site conditions.
- Participate in inspections, testing, and work acceptance processes.
- Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Enforce QA/QC requirements, ensure checklists/ITP compliance, and maintain proper site records.
- Work closely with Safety personnel to ensure compliance with site safety rules and statutory requirements.
- Support implementation of corrective actions and prevention of repeat defects.
- Coordination & Communication
- Attend and contribute to site coordination meetings with consultants and stakeholders.
- Communicate updates clearly to the Project Manager and relevant teams on progress, risks, and required decisions.
- Coordinate RFIs, material submissions, and approvals with internal technical/QS teams where required.
- Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare daily reports, progress updates, photos, and relevant site documentation.
- Track site progress against programme and highlight delays, constraints, and mitigation actions.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 5 years as Site Engineer / Project Engineer in building and/or infrastructure construction.
- Project Preference: Experience in hospital developments, roads, bridges, or heavy civil works is preferred.
- Education: Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering / Construction Management or equivalent.
- Technical Competency:
- Strong understanding of site construction methods, sequencing, and quality controls.
- Able to interpret drawings and coordinate interfaces across trades.
- Communication: Excellent written and spoken communication; able to manage stakeholders professionally and confidently.
- Work Style: Hands‑on, proactive, calm under pressure, and solution‑oriented.
- Software: MS Office; familiarity with common site/project tools (e.g., AutoCAD viewing, reporting tools) is an advantage.
- Location: Willing to be based on-site in Melaka.
