Job summary

A global shipping company in Malaysia is seeking a logistics coordinator for managing container movements and transport planning. The role requires a university degree or relevant diploma in marine studies or related fields. Job description

Please apply only if you agree to work on a contract basis. The contract duration will be between 3 to 6 months, depending on your performance and business needs, with the possibility of extension up to 1 year.

Function and duties
  • Management and Handling of Third Party Feeder and Trucking of for Empty Containers.
  • Execute MT transport planning & handling per Equipment Steering & Dispatch.
  • Update container movements/activities into FIS.
  • Arrange customs declaration for inbound & outbound empty containers depot reconciliation.
  • Coordinates moves in the most cost effective manner possible and in accordance to service level requirements.
  • Creates work orders to and from depot/lCD/rail/port for transport movements.
  • Monitors transport execution to ensure prompt delivery.
  • Monitoring container movements between depot to Terminal, and vice versa.
  • Monitoring container movements between from Terminal to lCDs, and vice versa.
  • Monitors trucker and equipment accessibility to determine the availability of one-way transports for cost saving opportunities.
  • Clarifies invoice and work order discrepancies, correcting when needed.
  • Check and compare with monthly invoice/work order for each vendor.
  • Monitors and evaluates vendors (hauliers, Barge operators, Rail Operators) performance and issue service exceptions when needed.
  • Updates and distributes truck, rail, barge transport limitations, heavy transport blockage calendar, strikes etc.
  • Prepare and provide an accumulative statistic of monthly performance and cost saving.
  • Assist to solve Inland transportation problems.
Other Matters
  • Any other projects & tasks assigned by the superior.

  • Able to work independently.
Qualifications and Technical Job Requirements
  • University Degree, Diploma in Marine Studies, experience as a Nautical Officer, or a similar qualification or experience in Liner Shipping or Logistics.
