Senior University Counsellor/University Counsellor

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior University Counsellor/University Counsellor to join our dynamic team at Taylor's Education Group in Subang Jaya, Selangor. This full-time role is crucial in supporting our students throughout their higher education journey, ensuring they make informed decisions and achieve their academic and career aspirations.

What you’ll be doing
  • To contribute and support overall development of the counselling, special needs and mental health services based on department’s current policies and procedures
  • To deliver hands on student counselling through individual and group sessions.
  • To lead and coordinate primary investigations and assessments during mental health emergencies etc.
  • To undertake psychological assessments for students who have special needs and/or, mental health diagnosis etc.
  • To collaborate closely with mental health professionals and build a good supportive network.
  • To provide a safe and professional service in accordance with Malaysia Board of Counsellor’s code of ethics.
  • To contribute to mental health awareness related activity and promotion for student and campus community at large, by conducting workshops/talks/events on specific topic areas.
  • To represent CCS in student consultative meetings, partnership meetings with other stakeholders as and when required.
  • To support and participate in the planning and implementation of activities, events, social media content building related by CCS functions.
  • To update timely on the clients’ records, statistics and other administrative duties.
  • To partake in various computer or cloud-based software to ease the administrative work.
  • Any other responsibilities that may be assigned to you from time to time.
What we’re looking for
  • Possess a master’s degree in counselling or counselling psychology from a accredited institution.
  • A licensed counsellor under the Malaysia Board of Counsellors.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in university counselling or a related field.
  • Thorough understanding of the higher education landscape, both locally and internationally.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, parents and other stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to help students make informed decisions.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently when required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and experience in using student information systems.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and a passion for student success.
  • Conversant with computer/cloud-based software: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Canva (or other designing platforms).
  • Possesses a good command of English, Bahasa Malaysia, or one or more languages. Good command of spoken and written Chinese is an added advantage.
