Senior Sales Specialist – Substation Protection and Control

Responsible for sales of Automation and Communication (AC) business within Power Grid Automation BU in accordance with strategy. Build long‑term customer relationships and manage resolution to specific customer needs and issues. Our Grid Automation business unit has a comprehensive portfolio of solutions. These range from substation automation, communication networks, grid automation services, grid edge solutions to enterprise software solutions. These solutions address all key segments connected to the energy system including generation, transmission distribution, industries, transportation and infrastructure sectors. How you’ll make an impact:
  • You will support and grow sales within Automation (Substation Protection and Control) and Communication in Malaysia, supporting the full sales process from promotion, product homologation, distributor‑channel development and direct sales to utility and industry customers. You will create added value for the customer and Hitachi Energy and ensure the successful outcome of transactions, contracts and proposals by using effective sales techniques and communicating details in accordance with Hitachi Energy’s offering and strategy.
  • You will prepare sales plans using company tools, perform regular status reviews and propose recovery plans in cases of potential order shortfalls, identify sales opportunities and use the CRM tool to record and share, lead direct relations/communication with customers and lead negotiations.
  • You will ensure the most competitive offer taking into account the market situation and customer’s conditions, identify which approach (e.g. direct sales, consortium or channel) can be applied to better serve the customer, support bid/no‑bid analyses and decisions and participate in project‑risk review processes. You will involve external stakeholders – direct relations with customers, channel partners, distributors, potential third‑party suppliers – and internal stakeholders – account managers, bid and proposal team, solution line specialists, country and regional management.
  • You will lead, drive and hold yourself accountable for the highest standards of health, safety and environment to ensure Zero Harm is achieved, be responsible for compliance with relevant HSE policy and procedures, ensure proactive risk assessments take place and corrective actions are monitored/followed up. You will build a culture of injury, incident, near‑miss and hazard reporting and guarantee that reported incidents are investigated and action taken, creating a workplace where everyone views health, safety and environment as the most important non‑negotiable value of your business.

  • You will be responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures and guidelines.
Your background:
  • You hold Engineering/Trade qualifications – Electrical or equivalent.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience required in sales skills.
  • Experience across the electrical industry within utilities, power T&D or power systems projects, especially in substation automation & communication is an advantage.
  • Advanced computer skills across MS Office, MS Teams, Outlook and SharePoint.
  • Expresses opinions and is able to work with multiple stakeholders and positions.
  • Good written and verbal English communication skills with high attention to detail.
