The Role

At Salus Aviation safety is how we do business. In the Safety Team we help coach the business to drive and enable safety change. The growth and sustainability of a good safety culture is at the heart of what we do. In your role as Senior Safety Specialist, you will be tasked with performing regular safety audits throughout the business, connecting with people and raising the awareness of safety, and ensuring compliance with safety regulatory rules and standards.

The key tasks include:

  • Ensure all areas of regulatory compliance are audited across the business in accordance with audit plans
  • Using our investigation philosophy, and working with the just culture framework, create and produce reports in a timely manner
  • Provide guidance and coaching to managers to ensure that audit and investigation findings are addressed, and lessons learned are embedded back in the business
  • Review the effectiveness of safety audits, suggest and implement improvements as required
  • Actively Champion a positive safety culture

Ideally you will :

  • Be a qualified aircraft maintenance engineer, or from a significant engineering background
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills, able to work closely with internal and external stakeholders to provide clear and objective advice, and both make and assist with decisions about safety issues
  • Excellent written skills; with the proven ability to write and present high-quality professional audit / investigation reports
  • Be able to take a systems thinking approach, combined with an ability to think critically and solve problems
  • Demonstrate an inquisitive, professional and rigorous approach to problem solving and risk identification
  • Have excellent time management and task organisational skills, with the ability to cope under pressure
  • Ability to work with confidential information and to exercise the highest degree of discretion
  • Knowledge of the NZ CAA/EASA rules and requirements
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety at Work Act and requirements
