Job summary

A prominent manufacturing firm in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, seeks an experienced EHS Manager to lead the establishment and continuous improvement of the EHS management system for a new factory. The role involves identifying safety risks during construction, ensuring compliance with local regulations, and promoting a strong safety culture among employees. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in EHS management, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to safety excellence.

  • Lead the planning and improvement of the EHS management system for the new factory.
  • Identify and assess major safety risks using advanced risk assessment tools.
  • Establish a contractor safety management system and conduct safety training.
  • Lead investigations of major safety hazards and promote corrective measures.
  • Ensure compliance with local EHS regulations and liaise with government departments.
  • Design and promote safety culture improvement programs.
Job description
Responsibilities
  • System Construction: Lead the planning, establishment, implementation and continuous improvement of the EHS management system for the new factory, including formulating core safety strategies, procedure documents and emergency response plans.
  • Hazard Identification and Control: Use advanced risk assessment tools (such as JSA, HAZOP) to identify and assess major safety risks during the factory's construction and operation phases, and formulate effective control measures.
  • Contractor Safety Management and Control: Establish a contractor safety management system, and conduct strict qualification verification, safety training, on‑site supervision and performance evaluation for contractors engaged in construction and service work.
  • Complex Problem Solving: Lead the investigation and rectification of major safety hazards, conduct root cause analysis of safety accidents, and promote the implementation of effective corrective and preventive measures.
  • Compliance and Strategy: Proficiency in and application of local EHS regulations in Malaysia; responsible for professional liaison with relevant government departments (such as DOSH, BOMBA) to ensure the factory successfully obtains all permits, completes declarations and passes inspections.
  • Safety Culture Cultivation: Design and promote company‑wide safety culture improvement programs to develop safety leadership and independent safety management capabilities among managers at all levels and employees.
