A construction firm in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to manage procurement activities and assist in project cost monitoring. Candidates should hold a relevant degree and have at least 5 years of experience. Responsibilities include preparing project budgets, conducting cost analysis, and ensuring compliance with quality standards. This role aims to ensure effective management of tendering processes and project financials, making strong knowledge in costing essential.
Responsible for procurement activities and supporting the Manager in project cost monitoring and control.
Assist in the preparation and establishment of project budgets.
Conduct pre-qualification of tenderers, including sourcing, identifying, evaluating, and recommending suitable tenderers in accordance with the tender programme.
Perform cost analysis, including:
Reviewing pre-tender estimates and analysing submitted tenders.
Carrying out elemental cost analysis for building and infrastructure works.
Conducting cost-effectiveness studies on alternative designs and specifications.
Review tender and contract documentation.
Support the coordination of procurement activities, including tender calling, evaluation of tender reports, participation in tender interviews, negotiation, and finalisation of contract awards.
Review and rationalise rates submitted by tenderers.
Prepare site valuations and process monthly interim progress claims.
Review contractors’ quotations and claims for variation works.
Review and finalise project accounts.
Monitor contractual compliance and status.
Assist in cost control by tracking and evaluating Requests for Variation (RFVs).
Support the preparation of project financial statements.
Prepare quotation documents for minor and new works.
Compile and maintain cost data and reporting records.
Ensure full compliance with the Company’s Quality, Safety & Health, and Environmental requirements.
Perform any other duties as assigned by Management from time to time.
Degree, Diploma, or Certificate in Quantity Surveying or Building Technology.
Strong knowledge in costing and estimating.
Sound understanding of pre- and post-contract quantity surveying functions.
At least 5 years of relevant working experience.
