A leading manufacturing company in Shah Alam, Malaysia is seeking a Purchasing Executive. This role involves managing the end-to-end purchasing cycle, negotiating with suppliers, and ensuring timely delivery of materials. The ideal candidate should have a diploma or degree in relevant disciplines, with at least five years of experience in a manufacturing environment. Candidates must be fluent in English and Mandarin, and possess strong negotiation and communication skills. This position offers a challenging yet rewarding work environment.
Diploma or Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering or other related disciplines.
Minimum five (5) years’ working experience in purchasing, preferably within a plastic injection moulding or manufacturing environment.
Fluent in English and Chinese (Mandarin), with the ability to speak, read and write to liaise effectively with Chinese-speaking suppliers and to review Chinese quotations/documents.
Hands‑on experience using an ERP system for purchasing (e.g. PR processing, PO issuance and tracking).
Strong negotiation, communication and follow‑through skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
Meticulous, responsible and detail‑oriented, with the ability to work independently and perform under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
Job DescriptionManage the end‑to‑end purchasing cycle, including PR review, sourcing and requesting quotations, price comparison, commercial negotiation and PO issuance.
Source, evaluate and develop local and overseas suppliers for raw materials, mould parts, spare parts, and packaging and other factory consumables.
Negotiate price, commercial terms and delivery conditions to achieve cost savings, supply reliability and value for the company.
Monitor order confirmation and delivery status to ensure materials are delivered on time and to prevent any production line stoppages.
Work closely with Production Planning (PPC), Warehouse, QA and Engineering teams to resolve material shortages, quality issues and delivery‑related problems.
Monitor and assess supplier performance (price competitiveness, quality and delivery) and elevate significant issues to the HOD.
Prepare reports and analysis for HOD/Management, including price comparisons, cost trends and basic purchasing KPIs.
Guide, support and coach junior purchasing staff where required to ensure smooth daily operations.
Ensure all purchasing activities are carried out in accordance with company policies, ISO requirements and audit/compliance standards.
