Job summary

A global construction solutions provider is seeking a Senior/Project Designer based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The role focuses on providing formwork design and calculation support for civil infrastructure projects across the Asia Pacific region. Job Description

Doka EAP is currently looking for a Senior/Project Designer EAPwho will be responsible for providing formwork design and calculation support to civil infrastructure projects across the Doka Asia Pacific (APAC) region.

Reporting to the Head of Engineering EAP, this position requires an enthusiastic individual who understands formwork, has extensive experience in formwork design, is able to manage formwork design planning independently, as well as support the Sales team during proposal and pitching. The position is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

You will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining regular contact with customers and the sales organization as a problem solver and discussion partner
  • Working with sales to produce AutoCAD drawings, Revit formwork models using Doka formwork systems during the proposal stage of construction projects and finalize the solution to be used for actual jobsites
  • Ensuring that the drawings and solutions indicate the proper use of Doka forming equipment and that the drawings represent safe, economical and efficient designs
  • Performing static analysis and prepare specifications for deliveries
  • Providing material lists for quotations to Sales and Operations team, for shipments to the site
  • Participating in staff training programs ensuring continuous training is provided in calculations, formwork, product knowledge, computer systems/software applications, etc
  • Supporting the Sales Team by determining appropriate formwork solutions that meet the customers’ needs (economically, and in compliance with safety and regulatory guidelines)
  • Ensuring that work is designed with available inventory and in conformance with contractual obligations
  • Ensuring that policies, procedures, programs, standards of performance and compliance are adhered to

Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent education
  • Minimum three years of formwork experience with International formwork systems especially in civil construction – bridges, tunnels, pylons and high-rise buildings
  • Knowledge in Doka Formwork Systems will be an advantage
  • Outstanding skills in AutoCAD
  • Working with BIM models in Revit & Inventor is an added advantage
  • Analytical skills and technical proficiency
  • Excellent proficiency in English
  • Strong communication skills with concise and clarity to multiple stakeholder e.g. clients
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while adhering to strict deadlines and budgets
  • Ability to work in a team environment on standard and major projects
