Senior Merchant Risk and Credit Management Officer
Job Summary
The Merchant Risk and Credit Management Officer evaluates creditworthiness, underwrites, and assesses SME lending applications within specified parameters. They conduct due diligence on new clients, gather KYC information, scrutinize documentation, and analyze risk factors.
Responsibilities
- Evaluating creditworthiness, underwriting, and approving New Merchant Business and SME Lending applications.
- Performing periodic due diligence reviews of existing merchants.
- Preparing and submitting BNM e-KYC Half-Year Report into BNM’s portal.
- Preparing monthly credit reports (NLP status) for submission to the Credit Bureau vendor.
- Assisting in verifying the monthly billing of Credit Bureau report usage.
- Updating Company's Policies and SOPs as necessary.
- Performing manual verification of new clients for audit trails in the e-KYC system.
- Conducting root cause analysis of credit-related issues and developing corrective action plans to address systemic weaknesses or deficiencies.
- Preparing and presenting regular reports to Head and senior management on credit portfolio performance and mitigation strategies.
- Participating in company projects and performing UAT testing to ensure system functionality meets business requirements.
- Executing market intelligence initiatives and managing report management.
- Acting as a liaison with external auditors, regulators, and credit rating agencies regarding credit risk management matters.
- Mentoring Merchant Risk and Credit Management officers to foster professional development and knowledge sharing within the team.
- Undertaking ad-hoc projects and duties as required.
- Fulfilling other duties as assigned by the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) or their designated representative.
Qualifications
- Diploma/bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as business or accounting.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in banking and finance.
- Strong knowledge of relevant industry standards applicable to credit underwriting.
- Experience in conducting credit risk assessments and due diligence.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Detail-oriented mindset with strong organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to analyse and interpret credit metrics.
- Experience in data reporting and analytics advantageous.
