Senior Mechanical Engineer (Mechanical Design)

Ambu A/S is currently looking for a Mechanical Engineer (Equipment & Automation) for our NPI department to be based in Ambu Global Hub, in Penang, Malaysia.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and implement new manufacturing equipment, testing equipment and automation systems with robotics integration to enhance efficiency and precision.
  • Review detailed CAD models, engineering drawings and BOMs from vendors on equipment and automation systems and challenge the designers and/or provide alternative solutions for the models.
  • Provide suitable mechanical components (pneumatic valves, actuators, motors, sensors, etc.) to be used in equipment and automation systems.
  • Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) for new equipment to ensure they meet specifications, performance standards, and regulations.
  • Collaborate with software, electrical, and controls engineers to integrate mechanical components into full automation systems.
  • Optimize equipment performance and efficiency.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for equipment-related issues.
  • Provide training and support for equipment operation and maintenance.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in equipment development and automation within a manufacturing or R&D environment.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design, robotics and automation systems.
  • Proficiency in CAD software.
  • Knowledge of simulation software for machine design, which allows for virtual testing and optimization of equipment before physical prototypes are built, is a plus.
  • Proficiency in quality systems and standards, along with knowledge of FDA regulations and compliance requirements for medical devices.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
