The Senior Design Engineer Will
- Contribute to projects to deliver excellent service levels to clients.
- Assist in ongoing development and growth of the business.
- Provide technical, design, and contract management support.
- Ensure projects align with B&W Engineering’s standards, procedures, and processes.
- Meet project requirements and client specifications.
- Extensive experience in various technical areas.
- Sound knowledge at a Senior Engineer level.
- Experience managing Data Centre projects is desirable.
- Willingness to travel between the Regional Head Office in Singapore, Engineering hub in the Philippines, and project sites across the APAC region.
Role Requirements
- Degree or higher in appropriate engineering discipline or have sufficient equivalent experience.
- Professional Engineer registration or progress towards beneficial.
- Proven experience in working within and running projects within a multi-disciplinary team with the successful delivery of the design for critical projects.
- Experience in project management and MEP engineering track record with some experience of data centres or other critical engineering facilities.
- Knowledge of MS Office applications Outlook, word, excel, PowerPoint etc.
- Knowledge of Dialux, Trimble (Amtech) Etap /AutoCAD/Revit/etc BIM/CAD calculation software. Ability to use IT based calculation and spreadsheet software.
- Significant experience in production of drawings, calculations, schedules & specifications for a range of building types.
- At least 5 years overall experience with 3 years Data Centre design.
- Broad design experience across Commercial, High Rise, Hotels & Leisure would be beneficial.
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the design process.
- Peripheral experience in architecture, structures, civils, security and permitting.
- Excellent understanding of the various code requirements and standards across the APAC region.
- Ability to work autonomously, as part of a wider team.
- Ability to embrace an intensively collaborative design environment working for and reporting daily to an expert client.
- Ability to proactively step outside the role of conventional design regiment and stages to achieve the client’s deliverables.
- Flexible and willing to travel to service international projects and customers.
- Possess exceptional clear communication skills and command of spoken/written English.
- Have an appreciation of different cultures/races and embrace the same.

- Maintain an appropriate knowledge of industry initiatives.
- Sound knowledge of key Health and Safety issues and legislation including Singapore Design for Safety (Dfs).

Role Responsibilities
- Running small & medium size projects and assisting with the running of large size projects in Singapore and throughout Asia Pacific.
- Development, design and coordination of engineering project services for Mechanical/Electrical designs, installations, systems, equipment and facilities.
- Actively involved in the production of drawings, calculations, schedules and specifications for all related mechanical/electrical systems.
- Ensure quality and accuracy of designs.
- Ensure compliance with project Design Criteria/Client brief/approved concept.
- Significant focus on the design of Mission Critical Data Centre Mechanical/Electrical services including all equipment, systems and interfaces. For electrical services including HV sub-stations, site-wide MV infrastructure, Generators, Uninterruptible Power Supplies, Switchgear, Transformers and Earthing. For mechanical services including cooling, AC, ventilation, generator fuel delivery systems, associated hydraulic systems, public health & plumbing, fire protection.
- Hold design reviews throughout design process and ensure compliance with relevant design standards and office standards.
- Carries out feasibility, due diligence, condition/dilapidation and other types of surveys and tests on new & existing sites and facilities in respect of electrical/mechanical services.
- Visits sites regularly and carries out inspections during construction stage of projects to ensure that the designs produced are realized practically and accurately.
- Specifies activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing confirm to functional specifications and customer requirements.
- Day to day liaison and discussion on project progress, design meeting, ongoing requirements for deliverables against detail and programme and direct liaison.
- Address and resolve issues at technical meetings with internal teams, local agencies, professional and contractors teams.
- Ensures engineering deliverables, including drawings, calculations, schedules and specifications meet required robust industry and legal standards.
- Assisting on the coordination of engineering services internally between MEP disciplines and externally between MEP and all other relevant designs.
- Takes a holistic view in the selection and application of engineering concepts and solutions.
- Based in Malaysia and have the capacity to work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions.
