Senior Mechanical/Electrical Design Engineer

Reporting to the Electrical / Mechanical Director, you will contribute to the successful delivery of projects, ensuring high service standards for clients. You will provide technical, design and contract management support across assigned projects, while supporting the ongoing development and growth of the business.

You will ensure all work aligns with B&W Engineering’s standards, procedures and processes, and that projects are delivered in accordance with client requirements and specifications. The role requires Senior Engineer–level technical expertise, with experience in Data Centre projects considered advantageous.

The position involves travel between Singapore (Regional HQ), the Philippines (Engineering Hub) and project sites across the APAC region.

About the Role

• Lead small to medium projects and support large-scale projects across Singapore and the APAC region
• Develop, design and coordinate Mechanical / Electrical engineering services across all project stages for installations, systems, equipment and facilities
• Produce and review drawings, calculations, schedules and specifications, ensuring quality and accuracy
• Ensure compliance with client briefs, design criteria, approved concepts and relevant standards
• Electrical: HV substations, MV infrastructure, generators, UPS, switchgear, transformers, earthing
• Ensure all engineering deliverables — including drawings, calculations, schedules and specifications — meet robust industry, legal and internal standards, and conduct design reviews to confirm ongoing compliance throughout the design process
• Carry out feasibility, due diligence, condition/dilapidation and other types of surveys and tests on new & existing sites and facilities in respect of electrical/mechanical services
• Perform site inspections during construction to ensure designs are implemented accurately
• Coordinate engineering inputs across MEP disciplines and with wider design teams
• Coordinate engineering services across MEP and other design disciplines and liaise with internal teams, clients, consultants, contractors and local authorities to address and resolve technical issues through meetings and ongoing project engagement
• Take a holistic, solution-focused approach to engineering design and delivery
• Based in Malaysia with the ability to support concurrent projects across multiple regions

About You

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree (or equivalent/higher experience) in a relevant engineering discipline
• Professional Engineer registration or working towards it (preferred)
• Minimum 5 years’ overall experience, including 3 years in Data Centre design
• Prior experience within international engineering consultancies, with exposure to global design standards, governance frameworks and multi-region project delivery
• Proven delivery of complex projects within multi-disciplinary teams with the successful delivery of the design for critical projects
• Demonstrated project leadership with deep MEP engineering expertise, including experience delivering mission-critical facilities such as data centres
• Good cross-disciplinary understanding of architecture, structures, civils, security and permitting requirements
• Experience across Commercial, High-Rise, Hotels & Leisure developments are advantageous

• Strong understanding of the end-to-end design process
• Working knowledge of Dialux, Trimble (Amtech), ETAP, AutoCAD, Revit, BIM/CAD and calculation tools
• Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Solid understanding of APAC codes, standards and regulatory requirements
• Awareness of related disciplines including architecture, structures, civils, security and permitting
• Sound knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, including Singapore Design for Safety (DfS)
