A prominent manufacturing company in Malaysia is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to provide strategic legal leadership and serve as a trusted advisor. You will manage legal matters related to corporate and commercial transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, while ensuring compliance and protection of the company's interests. Job description

The Senior Legal Counsel will provide strategic legal leadership and act as a trusted advisor to the business, supporting a wide range of corporate, commercial, and contentious matters across the Group.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage all legal matters relating to corporate and commercial transactions, including mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures, share sales, service agreements, financing arrangements, and property-related transactions (sale & purchase, tenancies, and contracts).
  • Review, draft, and advise on agreements, contracts, and legal correspondence to ensure compliance and protection of the Company’s interests.
  • Oversee contentious and dispute matters, assessing legal risks and advising on litigation strategy based on available evidence.
  • Coordinate and liaise closely with external solicitors, including reviewing and providing input on cause papers prior to court filing.
  • Provide timely, practical, and commercially sound legal advice to support business operations.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned from time to time.
Key Requirements
  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) (Hons) from a reputable university.
  • Minimum 10–15 years of relevant legal experience, with strong exposure to corporate and commercial matters, including merger & acquisition, financing arrangement, other corporate exercises or business restructuring, capital markets, dispute resolution, employment & industrial relations, and litigation.
  • Experience as a practicing lawyer and/or in-house legal counsel for a public listed company is an added advantage.
  • Proven leadership and people management capabilities with a high level of professionalism.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and the ability to deliver practical legal solutions aligned with business objectives.
