Job description
Senior Lecturer (Clinical) - Faculty of Medicine

This position is responsible for undertaking the teaching and learning activities of undergraduate students. This includes the design and delivery of the curriculum as well as the assessment of learning. The role also covers student support and supervision, research, and administrative duties within the Faculty of Medicine.

Teaching & Learning in Ophthalmology

  • Undertakes teaching and related duties such as the design, preparation, and development of teaching materials; conducts classes/lectures, tutorials, and practical/bedside teaching; consults with students; and carries out invigilation, marking, and assessment in Ophthalmology (Year 3 & 5).
  • Conducts clinical skills training for Year 3 & 5 students.
  • Participates and contributes to high-quality assurance programs and curriculum development.
  • Plans and implements teaching strategies to optimize student learning and motivation.

Student Support & Supervision

Acts as a mentor/academic supervisor to groups of students

Research

  • Participates in scholarly activities, including research, conference presentations, journal publications, and relevant community work.
  • Supervises undergraduate students from Years 3, 4, and 5 in Research Evidence-Based Medicine (REBM).
  • Serves as a member of the Ophthalmology Unit
  • Participates in continuous professional development activities.
  • Serves on the Professional Exam Committee for First Professional, Part 1 & Part 2 Final Professional examinations.
  • Acts as an internal examiner for the First Professional and Part 1 & Part 2 Final Professional examinations.
