Job summary

A leading property development company in Malaysia is seeking a Tax Officer to assist the Tax Manager in managing tax compliance matters. The ideal candidate will prepare provisional tax computations, maintain tax reference libraries, and engage with external consultants. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and knowledge of Malaysian tax regulations. Fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia is required. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is required.
  • Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CPA, or ICAEW are preferred.
  • Prior experience in Big4 or mid-tier accounting firms is highly desirable.

Job description

Assist the Tax Manager in managing tax compliance matters for the Group of Companies.

Prepare and review provisional tax computations for the purpose of tax estimate submissions.

Support the development and implementation of in‑house tax computation templates to streamline tax processes and ensure accuracy.

Assist in tax audit and investigation exercises, including compiling, reviewing, and organising documentation for submission to tax agents and authorities.

Tax Knowledge Management

Maintain an up‑to‑date in‑house tax reference library by monitoring changes in tax laws, public rulings, and legislation.

Conduct research and provide analysis on new tax developments that may impact the business.

Stakeholder Engagement

Maintain professional relationships with external consultants, auditors, and relevant tax authorities to support tax operations.

Ad‑hoc Support

Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Tax Manager or senior management from time to time.

Requirements
Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is required.
  • Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CPA, or ICAEW are preferred.
Experience
  • Prior experience in Big4 or mid‑tier accounting firms or a well‑established group of companies is highly desirable.
  • Exposure to the property development and construction industry is an added advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of Malaysian tax regulations and corporate tax requirements.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple compliance requirements with minimal supervision.
  • Fluent in both English and Bahasa Malaysia, written and spoken.
