Job summary

A leading insurance provider in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a New Business Executive to manage the daily operations of underwriting and support work. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of relevant experience in insurance. Job description

Supports manager to ensure that the daily operations of the departments are within the agreed service levels.

Reporting to the Head of New Business & Underwriting.

Responsible in handling and managing all related support work to the New Business and Underwriting Administration process to ensure it meets organization’s business needs – includes handling on contract issuance (both hardcopy and e‑policy), payment requisition and refund, appointment / review of panel clinics, preparing related new business letters and any ad hoc new business plus underwriting related tasks (e.g., to process up to jet underwriting if given the authority).

Responsibilities
  • 1. Policy Contract: both Hardcopy and e‑Policy

    Manage policy outsourcing for issuance; ensure policy contracts are attended to in a timely manner within stipulated guidelines and turnaround time. End‑to‑end process, provide accurate data for vendor production, perform health quality checks for in‑force cases, track policy contracts within SLA, attend reprinting requests, handle proposal images scanning and quality checks, and manage Image WFI download ROBO.

  • 2. Payment handling for New Business Underwriting

    Track invoices from all vendors and issue payments accurately and within the given SLA. Prepare refund payments for non‑taken up, decline, postpone and excess premium cases including covering letters to customers; process within turnaround time; attend e‑mail requests for policy contracts and refunds.

  • 3. Handling New Business Panel clinics process

    In-charge of panel clinic appointments and investigations of misconduct by panels or agents (end to end); survey and appoint panel clinics.

  • 4. Dealing with New Business and Underwriting vendors

    Handle printing vendor relationships, purchase stationery for vendors, and collaborate with vendors such as Halus Sutera for form printing.

  • 5. Backup role when there is absence of staff within the department

    Perform daily policy contract handling, UAT for policy contract, execute RPA, and approve insurance applications up to the jet underwriting authority limits given.

  • 7. Risk Assessment and Audit related matters

    Adhere to Company’s SLA & BNM guidelines and ensure compliance with audit requirements.

  • 8. Any Other Related Ad‑Hoc duties

    Perform any other ad‑hoc duties as assigned by superiors both in New Business and Underwriting; attend emails related to policy contract complaints, vendor issues, panel clinic errors, and lab reports.

Requirements
  • 1. Educations

    Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Management/Insurance or its related discipline.

  • 2. Experience

    At least 3 years relevant experience in a line function role; able to work with minimum supervision to meet tight deadlines; knowledge of Life insurance business and regulatory licensing requirements is an advantage; knowledge of New Business & Underwriting Operations Departments procedures is an advantage.

  • 3. Skills

    Ability to manage time and prioritize; good attitude and teamwork; effective communication with all levels of internal and external customers; proactive and able to work within tight deadlines; good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint and spreadsheet applications; customer service skills, insurance operations, complaint handling, managerial and computer skills.
