Technical Expert (Sales & Customer Support)
- Acts as technical key contact and provide technical support for customers and sales teams in terms of products, product development or applications.
- Recommends and initiates necessary development measures for technology and product improvements.
- Maintains network with other experts inside and outside the company in accordance with the rules of SCHOTT’s Code of Conduct.
- Negotiates customer specifications at eye level.
- Acts as owner of the specifications for certain products and involve in selection of special characteristics and support APQP activities.
- Works with raw glass supplier for improvement to meet customer application and requirements.
- Handles inquiries concerning products and verifies technical feasibility.
- Clarifies technical questions with contacts in Technical Centers, Supply Chain Management and Purchasing.
- Proposes solutions and provides cost estimations for quotations.
- Conducts technical negotiations with customers under consideration of the economic objectives of the respective product.
- Leads or participates in projects on the basis of customer inquiries.
- Conducts competition analyses, including benchmarking of products and technologies.
New Product Development and Integration
- Support New Product Development & Integration team to launch and ramp up new product.
- Ensure effective hand shaking process from Inquiry to Sample Order Stage in the aspect of Customer Agreement (or other related documents) Finalization, Product Routing Definition, COGS & Gross Margin Definition and Capability Confirmation.
IP
- Assist in the IP-Strategy of new processes and products.
- Make forecast and guard the company against IP legal risks, study of freedom to operate (FTO) and supporting the Patent Department for legal opinion.
- Acts as key-contact for production and sales teams in terms of IP for processes or products (FTO) for new products or applications.
- Get involved in analysing the IP monitoring shared with R&D.
Supporting Tasks
- Provides technical information for communication and training purposes and keeps them up to date.
- Trains sales teams concerning new products, applications and technologies.
- Coordinates the production of prototypes for customers and trade shows.
- Supports Quality Department in solving internal and external complaints.
- Supports global or regional product strategy.
- Supports the SBF in the definition of the product roadmap & submits suggestions for the annual R&D planning.
- Collaboration with internal or external parties for fast sampling, out of capability sample and other evaluation.
