Job summary

A leading semiconductor company in Malaysia is seeking a skilled automation engineer to support factory automation and robotic systems integration. Job description
Your Role

Key responsibilities in your new role

  • Support and integrate factory automation and robotic systems (MCS, controllers, dispatching, traceability, monitoring) in semiconductor manufacturing environments
  • Work with vendors, factory operations, engineering, and internal engineering teams to implement hardware, software, and network solutions
  • Develop, configure, and maintain automation workflows for robotic handling, AMHS, and process equipment, including SECS/GEM and REST integrations
  • Design, develop, and support automation software and databases (SQL/NoSQL) for Lights-Out manufacturing operations
  • Coordinate with IT on network and infrastructure planning to ensure secure, stable, and high-performance connectivity
  • Provide Level 2/2.5 factory support, lead incident and problem management, perform root cause analysis, and drive corrective actions
  • Plan and execute system testing, validation, documentation, and training prior to factory deployment
  • Maintain comprehensive system, software, and network documentation
  • Provide support during normal office hours, and participate in on-call rotation, including weekends and holidays
Your Profile

Qualifications and skills to help you succeed

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Automation, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in semiconductor automation systems with a focus on Lights OUT automation, factory system architecture, and software development
  • Proven experience with Lights OUT Manufacturing, MCS, AMR/OHV, and stocker systems
  • Strong software development background (e.g., Java, Python, C#, Docker, and Microservices). Knowledge of VDA 5050 will be an advantage
  • Experience with application/database management (e.g., MySQL, MS SQL, Oracle)
  • Familiarity with network systems, including configuration of switches, wireless APs, VLANs, and network troubleshooting tools
  • Experience in incident and problem management processes and tools
  • Deep understanding of SECS/GEM communication protocols
  • Excellent knowledge of REST API development and integration
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Able to work independently and under pressure
  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation and organizational skills
  • Proactive mindset in identifying, escalating, and resolving operational issues
