Job summary

A leading construction firm in Malaysia is seeking a qualified Quantity Surveyor to manage project costs, oversee procurement processes, and ensure compliance with contracts. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in the construction industry, proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, and a strong commitment to detail and deadlines. This role involves preparing budgets, managing contracts, and providing commercial advice throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities
Cost Management & Budget Control
  • Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and feasibility studies for housing and commercial developments.
  • Monitor and control project costs from inception through to completion.
  • Prepare, manage, and review cash flow forecasts and cost reports.
  • Identify cost-related risks and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
Procurement & Contract Administration
  • Prepare tender documentation and manage the tendering process.
  • Evaluate tenders and provide recommendations for contractor appointments.
  • Administer construction contracts in accordance with contractual terms.
  • Prepare and assess interim valuations, variations, and final accounts.
  • Draft Letters of Award (LOA) for consultants, contractors, and vendors.
  • Prepare cost comparison analyses for quotations received.
  • Source and evaluate building materials as required.
Project Support
  • Work closely with development, design, and construction teams to ensure commercial objectives are achieved.
  • Provide commercial and cost advice throughout the design and construction phases.
  • Attend client, consultant, project meetings, and site visits as required.
Valuations & Payments
  • Assess contractor and subcontractor applications for payment.
  • Certify payments in accordance with contract terms and conditions.
  • Manage change control procedures and valuation of variations.
Compliance & Reporting
  • Ensure compliance with contractual, financial, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date project documentation.
Qualifications
  • Diploma, Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree, or Postgraduate Diploma in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the developer or construction industry.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in managing multiple projects within tight timelines.
  • Detail-oriented, trustworthy, and committed to meeting deadlines.
