Job description

The Senior Buyer leads the strategic sourcing strategies that deliver economic and cost efficiencies, supply assurance and quality for TransPak needs. The Senior Buyer works across departments to deliver maximum value to internal customers. This role reports to the Procurement Commodity Manager and provides the opportunity to make your mark and bring your innovative procurement strategies and stakeholder successes.

Essential Functions:

Strategic Supply Chain Strategies

Strategically develop the supply chain strategies while maintaining optimal inventory levels and delivering year-over-year cost improvements and support on-time customer deliveries.

Develop and foster supplier relationships to ensure adequate supply and competitive advantage in cost, quality, lead-time, inventory and payment terms.

Provide commodity price guidance and market intelligence to leadership.

Direct and manage category supplier selection and negotiation.

Negotiate and execute purchase orders and supplier contracts with existing and new suppliers.

Leadership Metrics/Planning

Liaise with counterparts in other functional areas such as Finance, Customer Service, Sales, Quality, Warehouse personnel to ensure alignment of activities and objectives.

Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and leverage planning.

Monitor performance metrics for supplier performance, supplier quality, internal order placement performance, buyer activity levels, financial performance and material shortage elimination.

Education/Knowledge/Skill Requirements:

3+ years international buying and supply chain management experience

Strong working knowledge of inventory planning and forecasting techniques

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills and an innovative approach to problem solving and negotiating

Excellent MS Office skills; Sage X3 ERP experience and Tableau a plus

Degree in any field

Experience preferred with 3 years and above.
