Senior Business Development cum PR Manager (F&B / Kopitiam)

The Senior Business Development cum PR Manager is responsible for driving business growth, developing strategic partnerships, strengthening brand presence, and managing public relations for a kopitiam or F&B group in Malaysia. This role involves expansion planning, operational collaboration, leasing negotiations, marketing direction, overseas market exploration, and media engagement to support sustainable long-term business performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Development & Growth
- Identify and develop new business opportunities (e.g., franchise expansion, new store sites, partnerships).
- Conduct market research and competitor analysis within the kopitiam/F&B industry.
- Liaise proactively with mall management and their leasing departments for new site opportunities, tenancy renewals, rental negotiations, and space improvements.
- Build and manage relationships with landlords, property developers, suppliers, and corporate partners.
- Prepare feasibility studies, business proposals, and investment analyses for new outlets/projects.
- Lead negotiations for partnership deals, collaborations, and franchise agreements.
- Monitor sales performance and propose initiatives to drive revenue growth.
Strategic Planning
- Develop and implement business expansion and brand growth strategies.
- Plan store expansions, new concepts, and menu launch strategies.
- Analyse consumer insights, market demand, and industry trends to refine business direction.
Overseas Expansion
- Identify potential international markets suitable for kopitiam/F&B concept expansion.
- Conduct feasibility studies, regulatory assessments, and market-entry analyses for overseas regions (e.g., Singapore, Indonesia, Middle East, Australia, etc.).
- Build relationships with foreign landlords, franchise partners, master franchisees, and international F&B investors.
- Lead discussions on international franchise models, licensing agreements, and joint ventures.
- Collaborate with legal teams to ensure compliance with foreign regulations, franchising laws, brand IP protection, and operational standards.
- Oversee brand adaptation for overseas markets—menu localization, store design, cultural preferences, logistics, and supply-chain planning.
- Coordinate with overseas partners to ensure smooth brand rollout, training, marketing, and operational success.
Public Relations (PR) & Communications
- Act as spokesperson to media, partners, and the public.
- Manage media relations, press releases, PR events, and crisis communications.
- Develop PR strategies to strengthen brand awareness and reputation in Malaysia’s F&B sector.
- Maintain strong relationships with influencers, food reviewers, community organisations, and local authorities.
Stakeholder & Community Engagement
- Serve as the main liaison with mall management, leasing teams, and property landlords for site approvals, operational matters, and event collaborations.
- Manage partnerships with delivery platforms such as GrabFood, Foodpanda, and ShopeeFood.
- Build strong relationships with franchisees, outlet managers, and community partners.
Operational Collaboration
- Coordinate with Operations to ensure business development and marketing strategies align with outlet capabilities.
- Support store teams in executing promotions and customer-engagement activities.
- Gather feedback to improve menu offerings, service quality, and customer experience.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Hospitality, or related field.
- Minimum 5–8 years’ experience in Business Development, PR, or Marketing, ideally in the F&B or retail sector.
- Experience working with mall management and leasing departments in Malaysia is a strong advantage.
- Exposure to overseas business development, franchising, or international expansion is a plus.
