Job Description

The Senior Associate will operate and oversee reconciliation and review technology to deliver a full reconciled cash ledger to client operations teams as well as other agreed services which may be required in the future in the growth of the team.

The Senior Associate will have a strong understanding of the structures and types of products within a private investment fund as well as strong accounting knowledge for the double entry and booking of transactions through the accounting system. Ideally the candidate will be a self‑starter and also have a keen interest in learning new technologies and skills.

For this role you may be tasked with reviewing the work of an Associate, ensuring tasks are completed and issues appropriately investigated. A Senior Associate will likely be the lead for multiple client collection accounts belonging to a Client Delivery team as well as having the ability to assist across other workstreams where necessary for coverage. The candidate would also be responsible for knowledge transfer and training to new joiners.

  • Ensure client transaction processing is complete, booked correctly & backup evidence is accurate.
  • Review reconciliations prepared by other members of the team where necessary to maintain flow of workloads and coverage across the wider team.
  • Operate and oversee in‑house reconciliation technology as well as being involved in internal discussions for improvements and automations.
  • Ensure to engage in suggesting ideas and efficiency improvements to the process framework.
  • Liaise with other Investor and Client delivery teams within MFS in other locations.
  • Ensure accuracy at all times and ensure SLA deadlines are met and strictly adhered to.
  • Support the new account migration processes.
  • Involvement in projects and managing change.
  • Oversight of reconciliation and data transmission technology.
  • Escalate issues appropriately as and when needed.
Qualifications
  • University degree in Computer Science, Math, Business Studies, Economics, Finance, Accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
  • Candidates must have relevant experience within the investor services, private equity or asset management industry.
  • Understanding of security transactions and investment fund structures.
  • Strong understanding of bookkeeping and capital transaction movements.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team, possessing strong problem solving skills.
  • Experience with reconciliation tools or technology, a portfolio management system or an investment accounting general ledger, such as Investran, Geneva, Mantra or Yardi.
  • Advanced Excel knowledge; comfortable with pivot table and functions e.g. TEXT, LOOKUP, MATH, IF, would be useful.
  • Intermediate knowledge of VBA, SQL or any programming knowledge would be an advantage.
