About the role

Weststar General Aviation Sdn Bhd (WGA), a subsidiary of The Weststar Group, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accounts Executive (SAE) to join our Finance team at our headquarters in Ulu Kelang, Selangor, on a 2‑year contract basis. The successful candidate will oversee the full set of account and reporting functions for the organization while ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and aviation industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the full set of accounts (GL, AP, AR, Bank Recs) and ensure timely month‑end/year‑end closing.

Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in compliance with MFRS/IFRS.

Ensure accurate accounting of revenues, costs, accruals and intercompany agreements.

Accounts Payable (AP)

Verify and process vendor invoices in accordance with company policies, ensure timely and accurate payment processing to vendors and service providers, monitor and reconcile AP aging, highlight long‑outstanding balances, maintain vendor records and coordinate with suppliers on payment‑related queries, support month‑end and year‑end closing by preparing AP schedules and reconciliations.

Cashbook & Treasury

Prepare daily cashbook entries and monthly bank reconciliations, monitor daily cashflow balances to support operations, assist in preparing cashflow forecasts for management review, support treasury and funding activities as directed.

Internal Controls & Audit

Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard assets and financial records, act as primary liaison for auditors, tax agents, and regulators for statutory audits and tax filings, align all financial activities with company policies and statutory standards.

Group Coordination & Reporting

Provide accurate subsidiary‑level reporting to Finance/Account department, coordinate intercompany transactions, funding, CAPEX and treasury requirements with Group Finance.

Budgeting & Business Partnering

Prepare annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and variance analysis; recommend corrective actions to leadership, provide financial insights to operations and management for new projects, contracts and decision‑making.

Leadership & Authority

Supervise, coach, and evaluate the performance of the finance team, approve journal vouchers, reconciliations, and payments within delegated authority limits, represent WGA Finance in meetings with regulators and Group Finance, drive process improvements.

What we're looking for

A recognized Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance qualification (e.g. MICPA, ACCA, CIMA, AASCPA, MIA or equivalent).

A minimum of 5-7 years’ relevant experience, with at least 2 years in a senior accounting role, preferably with exposure to the aviation industry.

Strong knowledge of MFRS/IFRS, statutory compliance, and multi‑entity structures.

Experience with ERP/accounting systems (SAP or equivalent): GL, and Sub‑Ledgers AP, AR, Inventory and Fixed assets – would be an added advantage.

High level of integrity, analytic mindset and the ability to work in a fast‑paced and able work under minimum supervision.

Strong attention to detail, accuracy, deadline‑driven and problem‑solving skills.

Good leadership and effective communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with stakeholders at all levels.

Must be willing to commit to a 2‑year contract period.

Proficient in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, PC skills.
