SECONDARY ART & DESIGN TEACHER

Reporting

Responsible to: Head of Creative Arts

Responsible for: Teaching Art and Design across the Secondary School

Applicants for the position should:

be a passionate and enthusiastic Secondary Art & Design teacher who is capable of teaching Art & Design to students aged 11-18 years old. Experience of teaching IGCSE and A Level would be an advantage.

Main Responsibilities
  • Support the work of the Creative Arts Department to ensure the highest possible levels of achievement;
  • Plan lessons in accordance with schemes of work;
  • Contribute to the development, evaluation and monitoring of policies, syllabuses and schemes of work;
  • Uphold the standards of preparation, teaching and discipline;
  • Contribute to departmental activity beyond the curriculum;
  • Establishing high and appropriate expectations for learning, motivation and presentation of work;
  • Set and mark homework in accordance with school policy;
  • Provide constructive oral and written feedback to students with clear target;
  • Keep parents informed of student progress, including at Parent-Teacher Conferences;
  • Liaising with Student Support Team with regard to individual students who may have exceptional needs, to ensure that those needs are understood, planned for and met;
  • Attending and contributing to meetings of a professional nature as and when required;
  • Contributing to the strengthening of the parent-teacher partnership in individual and whole school initiatives as and when required;
  • Be prepared to take on pastoral role in the school in the form of a Form Tutor and fulfill the responsibilities of that position;
  • Developing cross cultural links and providing opportunities to students to develop and apply their knowledge and skills;
  • Making a positive contribution to the development of the School;
  • Actively supporting the ethos of the school.
Other Responsibilities
  • Actively support and adhere to the Child Protection Policy, including attending annual training.
