Job Description:

Research and report on the new research outputs, implementation, development plan, programs and procedures by applying molecular biology, molecular breeding, bioinformatics, new technologies and a variety of scientific principles to improve products and services related to oil palm and other crops.

Assist in project planning, design, research execution, analysis, interpretation, troubleshooting and report on the findings by application of molecular biology, molecular breeding, bioinformatics, new technologies and scientific theories or techniques to establish new research output or products or improvement in procedures related to oil palm and other crops.

Collect, examine, curate, analyze and interpret molecular biology, genomic, genetic and breeding/phenotypic data using Statistical and Quantitative genetics analysis tools, to enhance the understanding of heritability, breeding values, and genotype-environment interactions for trait improvement in oil palm and other crops.

Demonstrates potential for technical proficiency, scientific creativity, independent thinking, and effective collaboration within the project/unit, while supporting researchers in generating scientific papers, publications, and IPs.

Contribute to, compile and translate ideas from team discussion into a draft proposal aligned with company's goal as part of conceptual planning. Understand the project requirements and support the team leader in promoting project deliverables.

Team player and provide scientific guidance and training to junior staff (e.g. technician, protégé, internship student).

Provide technical input and services to stakeholders & colleagues within the Unit and Department.

Assist in managing and implementing regular maintenance of allocated equipment in the laboratory, both long and short term. Liaise with vendors to ensure PM and regular maintenance occurs, conduct basic troubleshooting of key instruments.

Assist in managing, maintaining and implementing regular maintenance of ISO/IEC 17025 documentations and procedures in laboratory, and assist in SOP/ work instruction/ HIRAC of allocated equipment/ chemical in the laboratory.

Job Requirement

0-3 year working experience in molecular biology

BSc. or MSc. in Plant Biotechnology or Biomolecular sciences or plant genetics or related Science discipline

Lab and office environment; periodic travel to field sites/trials

Strong knowledge of molecular breeding techniques (e.g., marker-assisted selection, genomic selection).
