Job Summary

UCSI Schools is seeking a compassionate, proactive, and student-centered School Counselor to join our academic team, supporting the well‑being of students across both primary and secondary levels. The ideal candidate will promote the emotional, social, academic, and behavioral development of students while fostering a safe and supportive school environment. This role requires collaboration with educators, parents, and school leadership to help students thrive both personally and academically.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and group counseling to students to address emotional, behavioral, academic, and social challenges.
  • Identify students' needs through observation, referrals, and assessments; develop intervention plans and track progress accordingly.
  • Support students in developing coping strategies, resilience, conflict resolution skills, and emotional regulation.
  • Promote a positive school climate by implementing programs related to character education, anti‑bullying, mental health awareness, and peer relationships.
  • Guide students through academic planning, goal setting, time management, and study skills.
  • Assist students with transitions between grade levels and provide support for personal growth and career awareness where applicable.
  • Collaborate with teachers and school leaders to identify at‑risk students and provide appropriate interventions or referrals.
  • Liaise with parents and guardians to support student development and provide regular updates on counseling progress when necessary.
  • Refer students to external specialists, psychologists, or support services when more intensive intervention is required.
  • Uphold ethical standards of confidentiality, professionalism, and care in all counseling activities.
  • Organize and participate in school events, awareness campaigns, parent workshops, and staff development related to student wellness.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in school counseling and child psychology.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Recognized counseling qualification or licensure (e.g., Postgraduate Diploma in Guidance & Counseling or equivalent).
  • Proven experience working with children and adolescents in a school or educational setting.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to build trust and maintain professional boundaries with students, staff, and families.
  • Culturally sensitive and respectful of diverse backgrounds and needs.
  • Passionate about student well‑being and committed to supporting their holistic development.
