Sales Manager/Senior Sales Manager (Food Production/Water Treatment/Personal Care Chemicals)

The Sales & Marketing Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and executing sales and marketing activities for the company’s chemical products. The role includes developing strategic pricing, managing product positioning, and analysing global and domestic market trends to guide business decisions and identify opportunities for growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement sales and marketing strategies to grow market share and achieve revenue and margin targets.
  • Lead market assessment initiatives to understand trends, competitive positioning, and opportunities for expanding the chemical product portfolio.
  • Conduct market research to monitor competitor movements, customer trends, and industry developments and translate findings into actionable plans.
  • Prepare marketing materials, sales proposals, and support documents to assist in negotiations with clients and partners.
  • Negotiate effectively with customers and coordinate closely with finance, operations, and logistics teams to ensure smooth execution of transactions.
  • Evaluate product performance and pricing structures to ensure alignment with profitability targets.
  • Collaborate with relevant teams to develop annual marketing and business plans.
  • Perform territorial and SWOT analyses to support strategic sales planning.
  • Drive new market penetration initiatives as directed by management.
  • Recommend product improvements or new product opportunities based on customer feedback and market gaps.
  • Present products and solutions to customers through meetings, calls, and written communication.
  • Grow existing accounts while developing new business relationships to meet annual sales targets.
  • Work with operations/logistics teams to enhance delivery efficiency and service quality.
  • Oversee the execution of sales and purchase contracts and ensure compliance through coordination with legal teams.
  • Track outstanding payments, work with finance on receivable follow-ups, and mitigate credit risks to ensure healthy cash flow.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with key customers, industry stakeholders, and relevant authorities to stay informed about market developments.
  • Ensure all customer interactions, opportunities, and account details are accurately recorded in the CRM system.
  • Track performance against sales plans and budgets and propose corrective actions when needed.
  • Provide management with regular reports on sales performance, market insights, competitor analysis, and recommendations.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to team members to build capabilities and support succession planning.

Promote a culture of ownership, integrity, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5-6 years of sales experience with leadership exposure.
  • Experience in trading, distribution, or chemical-related industries is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage the entire sales cycle - prospecting, negotiation, closing, and after-sales management.
  • Proven capability in leading teams and driving collective results.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Malay; Mandarin is an advantage for regional dealings.
  • Solid understanding of sales operations, data analysis, competitive benchmarking, and market dynamics.
