Job summary

A leading construction and safety management firm in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Safety Officer to plan, supervise, and ensure compliance with safety matters across work sites. The ideal candidate will have a diploma in Occupational Health and at least 2–3 years of experience in the construction industry, especially in data centre projects. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills to effectively manage safety teams and promote a culture of safety within the organization.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Environment and Occupational Health or Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety recognized by DOSH Malaysia.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a Safety Officer in construction, especially data centre projects.
  • Knowledge of ISO standards is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, assign and supervise safety matters for all work sites.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA Act 1994 and safety policies.
  • Conduct safety training and induction programs.

Job description
Responsibilities
  • To plan, assign and supervise safety matters and requirements for all work sites
  • To implement all policies, activities, procedures and instructions as relevant and required by the quality system
  • To ensure all work sites and offices are safe and in compliance with the OSHA Act 1994, CIDB requirements and company safety policies
  • To formulate, implement and maintain all health & safety policies, activities, procedures in the safety programs conforming to the requirement
  • Conduct Health & Safety related induction training programs for all employees as required
  • Ensure effective operation of safety management and compliance by all workers
  • Schedule, organise, conduct and supervise company’s Health & Safety committee and meetings
  • Conduct investigation into any accident or near‑miss occurrence at all sites and submit report to head office
  • Suggest corrective action and preventive methods or procedures to avoid re‑occurrence of accidents at work sites
  • Coordinate, monitor or conduct safety training on safety procedures at all work sites and promote awareness on safety
  • Advise management on any changes in Health & Safety legislation
  • Foster an understanding of injury prevention and damage control
  • Keep up to date with codes of practice and circulate any new Health & Safety literature or relevant information to all levels of employees
  • Prepare and submit documents including safe work method statements, height mitigation plans, logistic plans, risk assessment plans, etc.
Requirements
  • Diploma or degree in Environment and Occupational Health or Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent, recognized by the Department of Safety Health (DOSH) Malaysia
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a Safety Officer in the construction industry, preferably in data centre projects
  • Able to lead and manage the safety and health teams for multiple projects
  • Working knowledge of ISO standards and the preparation, implementation and maintenance of the quality management system is an added advantage
  • Good communication skills, strong personality and positive attitude
  • Good working attitude, strong interpersonal and leadership skills
