Job summary

A safety and engineering firm located in Johor, Malaysia is seeking an experienced Safety Officer. In this role, you will implement and enforce safety policies while serving as a communication bridge between local teams and international contractors. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction safety, be fluent in Mandarin and English, and possess excellent communication skills. Responsibilities include site inspections, delivering safety training, and investigating safety incidents, ensuring compliance across multiple project sites.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in construction safety, preferably in civil/structural projects.
  • Strong knowledge of Malaysian OSHA, FMA, and CIDB safety regulations.
  • Willingness to travel frequently within Malaysia.

Translate and explain safety requirements, policies, and incident reports in Mandarin.

Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and training sessions to site staff and subcontractors.

Promote a strong safety culture across all project sites.

Investigate accidents, near misses, and unsafe practices.

Prepare detailed reports and recommend corrective actions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety Compliance:
    • Implement and enforce workplace safety policies, procedures, and regulations in line with Malaysian law and company standards.
    • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
  • Contractor Liaison:
    • Act as the primary safety communication bridge between local teams and China main contractors.
    • Translate and explain safety requirements, policies, and incident reports in Mandarin.
  • Training & Awareness:
    • Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and training sessions to site staff and subcontractors.
    • Promote a strong safety culture across all project sites.
  • Incident Management:
    • Investigate accidents, near misses, and unsafe practices.
    • Prepare detailed reports and recommend corrective actions.
  • Travel & Site Support:
    • Willingness to travel domestically to multiple project sites.
    • Provide on-site safety support and ensure compliance during critical construction phases.
Qualifications
  • Diploma/Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Green Book / Yellow Book certification (DOSH Malaysia) preferred.
