Job summary

A safety management company in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Safety Officer to ensure compliance with Occupational Safety & Health Act (OSHA) at construction sites. The ideal candidate should have a degree or diploma in Occupational Safety & Health and at least 5 years of experience in safety supervision within the building construction industry. Responsibilities include conducting safety briefings, inspecting hazards, and preparing audits. This role requires effective communication skills and a valid GREEN BOOK certification.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in safety supervision and implementation in the building construction industry.
  • Registered competent Safety & Health Officer (SHO) with a valid GREEN BOOK.
  • Knowledge in property and construction terminology, high-rise construction, security, and environment management.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure full compliance with Occupational Safety & Health Act (OSHA).
  • Conduct safety induction and safety briefing to site personnel.
  • Inspect worksite hazards and prepare risk assessments.
  • Ensure site safety compliance through site audits.
  • Prepare monthly Safety Audit Reports for management.

Job description

Ensure full compliance of Occupational Safety & Health Act (OSHA) at all work site.

Conduct safety induction and safety briefing to site personnel.

Inspect worksite hazard and prepare risk assessment.

Responsible to ensure site safety compliance through site audit and issue NCR reports to compliance.

Carry out regular safety visit, audit and inspection.

Liase with JKKP / DOSH and authorized department (eg. Bomba, Jabatan Kesihatan, CIDB and etc.) to maintain company progressive safety standards and requirement.

Prepare monthly Safety Audit Report to the Management.

Advise management of changes in safety legistration and all matters pertaining to occupational safety, health and environmental.

Determine the cause of any accident or dangerous occurrence and recommend mean of preventing recurrence.

Keep up-to-date with recommended codes of practice and new safety literature, circulate information applicable to each level of employee.

Job Requirements
  • Degree / Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science / Health & Safety or equivalent / relevant disciplines.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in safety supervision and implementation in building construction industry and proven track record of completing project with quality achievement in safety.
  • Registered competent Safety & Health Officer (SHO) with the Occupational Safety & Health Department (DOSH) – must have a valid GREEN BOOK.
  • Knowledge in property and construction terminology, high-rise construction, security and environment management.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willing to work Monday to Saturday and based at construction sites.
