Job summary

A healthcare facility in Malaysia is looking for a Resident Medical Officer for the Emergency Department. Responsibilities include conducting patient assessments, providing professional medical care, and responding to emergencies as the primary Physician. Candidates should possess an MBBS/MD, have 3-5 years of relevant experience, and preferably hold certifications such as BLS or ACLS. Strong communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia are essential, with Mandarin being a bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial assessments and request investigations.
  • Provide medical care in A&E Department following established guidelines.
  • Respond to Code Blue calls and act as the primary Physician.
  • Perform minor surgical procedures when necessary.
  • Participate in training of staff and clinical education.

Job description
Resident Medical Officer (Emergency Department)

Responsible for initial assessment, requesting investigations, analyzing the results, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

Renders professional medical care for any patient seeking treatment in the A&E Department. Medical care will be in compliance with the established guidelines, policy and procedures.

Initiates prompt referral to the Consultant as and when required by the patient's condition.

Assists the medical consultant when required immediate treatment and management of the patient in the A & E department.

Provides medical support when required to transfer a patient to another facility locally.

Provides medical support when required to transfer a patient.

Responds to all Code Blue calls and acts as the primary Physician.

Prescribes the appropriate screening and vaccination program for patients requiring such a service.

Performs minor surgical procedures such as catheterization, incision drainage, and other appropriate cases.

Writes medical reports on patient’s condition as required for insurance, medico-legal, etc.

Takes part in accreditation processes, developing policies and training of staff.

Involves in clinical medical education and clinical nursing education.

Takes part in marketing initiatives by the Hospital.

May be assigned to do health screening, pre-employment check‑ups at the Health Screening Centre.

Any other duties as assigned by the Management.

Job Requirements:

Candidate must possess at least MBBS/MD or any degree of equivalent.

At least 3–5 Years of working experience in the related field is required for this position.

Preferably senior specialized in Healthcare – Doctor/Diagnosis or equivalent.

Able to speak in English, Bahasa Malaysia (Mandarin would be an added benefit).

Preferably possesses certification(s) such as BLS/ACLS/ALS/ATLS/PALS/NRP.
