Job summary

A leading food and beverage company in Malaysia is seeking a dynamic R&D Manager. In this role, you will oversee product development, ensuring quality, safety, and regulatory compliance while optimizing costs. You will manage projects, lead a team, and conduct necessary testing and analysis. The ideal candidate should hold a Bachelor's Degree in Food Science/Technology with 5-10 years of relevant experience. Proficiency in English and BM is essential, with Mandarin knowledge being a plus.

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of experience in the food industry and/or FMCG business.
  • Proficient in English and BM; knowledge in Mandarin is an advantage.
  • Good working knowledge of new product development in food processing and FMCG manufacturing.

Hi everyone!
We’re on the lookout for a young and dynamic individual who’s ready to step up as our new R&D Manager!

What is the role?

Product Development & Recipe Application: Review existing product formulations for functionality, ingredients, and availability. Develop or improve base formulations to meet market trends, consumer preferences, and nutritional needs. Formulate recipes, conduct sensory tests, and ensure product consistency. Use company products in applications to enhance market value.

Food Safety: Ensure new products meet regulatory standards and quality requirements. Work with the QA team to maintain product quality and safety.

Cost Management: Optimize formulations and processes to reduce costs while maintaining quality and safety.

Alternative Ingredient Evaluation: Collaborate with procurement to source and test new or alternative ingredients to ensure a consistent supply chain. Conduct tests at lab and commercial scale.

Food Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on food regulations and ensure all products and processes comply with relevant laws and guidelines.

Project Management: Plan and manage R&D projects, including timelines, budgets, milestones, and coordination with cross‑functional teams.

Team Leadership: Guide and support team members while promoting a motivated and dynamic work culture.

Testing and Analysis: Conduct lab experiments, product trials, shelf‑life tests, and sensory evaluations to assess new ingredients, benchmarking samples, reformulations, or process changes.

Are you the one?

Bachelors Degree in Food Science/Technology or similar.

5-10 years experience in food industry and or FMCG business.

Proficient in English and BM. Knowledge in mandarin would be added advantage.

Good working knowledge of new product development in food
processing plant and or FMCG manufacturing business, different exposure in standards such as GMP, HACCP, FSSC22000 and ISO standards.
