The Database Administrator (DBA) at Allianz Technology Malaysia, Regional Delivery Center (RDC) is responsible for the effective design, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of database systems for Allianz OEs within the Asia Pacific Region, primarily Oracle databases and other database technologies such as Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, IBM DB2, and MySQL. The role requires a strong focus on Oracle database administration as well as broad knowledge of other database technologies to manage diverse database environments, especially cloud-based solutions, ensuring performance, availability, security and scalability.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement database structures to support business applications and ensure data integrity.
• Install, configure and maintain database management systems such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB.
• Monitor database performance across various platforms, identify bottlenecks, apply patches and versions, and perform tuning tasks for optimal resource utilization.
• Implement and maintain database security measures to protect data from unauthorized access and ensure compliance with security policies and regulatory requirements.
• Develop, implement and manage backup and recovery strategies; regularly test plans to ensure data integrity and availability.
• Diagnose and resolve database-related issues, including performance bottlenecks, data integrity problems and connectivity issues.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, processes and procedures.
• Collaborate closely with application developers, system administrators and other IT staff to support database applications and optimize performance.
• Continuously identify opportunities to improve database performance and efficiency through tuning and optimization.
• Deploy, manage and monitor cloud-based database infrastructure and apply cloud security measures.
• Develop and implement automation scripts and tools to increase system efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
• Work with global teams to deliver globally managed services and ensure alignment and consistency in service delivery.
• Perform any other duties as deemed necessary and support projects on various issues when needed.

Key Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or a related field.
• Portfolio of over 5 years of proven experience as a Database Administrator or in a role.
• Strong understanding of database management systems, SQL and query optimization.
• Experience with backup and recovery procedures and monitoring tools.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Availability for on‑call support and working outside regular hours as required.

Must Have Technical Skill Sets

• Proficiency with Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server administration.
• Experience configuring and tuning PostgreSQL, MongoDB, IBM DB2 and MySQL.
• Knowledge of cloud database services, especially AWS, Azure or other public cloud platforms.
• Ability to develop automation scripts and use tooling such as PowerShell, Bash or Python.
• Familiarity with database monitoring and performance tuning tools such as Oracle Enterprise Manager, SQL Server Management Studio, or other vendor tools.
