Carry out X-ray procedures as assigned includes general x-ray, fluoroscopy procedures, portable X-rays, operating theatre procedures, CT-scan, mammography, MRI and on-call duties.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Produce radiograph of optimum diagnostic quality and minimize wastage of x-ray films.
- Organize the work systematically so as to maximize the use of the rooms and staff and reduce patient waiting time.
- Explain and ensure that patient understands the nature of the procedures.
- Check patient's particulars with the request from and to ensure that the correct procedures is being done to the right patient.
- Assess patients and their clinical requirements to determine appropriate radiographic techniques.
- Position patient safely for examination and, if necessary, adapt standard techniques, depend on medical conditions associated with disability, illness or trauma.
- Record imaging identification and patient documentation quickly and accurately and observe protocols to ensure compliance with the data protection act and patient confidentiality.
- Ensure the equipment is regularly checked for malfunctions and any faults are reported.
- Keep the x-ray room tidy, clean and maintain all the accessories in the room.
- Observe health and safety at work and strict radiation protection to protect staff and others.
- Obtain patients consent for special procedures. Assist the radiologist in more complex radiological examinations as required.
- Prepare/ clean the trolley for special procedures before and after the procedure.
- Keep all cassettes clean and arrange in proper place.
- In O1, keep the image intensifying clean and in a proper place after every procedure.
- Store portable machines at its place after every use.
- To be on-calls after office hours, weekend and any other particular time when it is required.
- Radiographer key in charges according to procedures being performed.
- Upgrade knowledge in latest technology by attending conferences and seminars.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Education and Requirements
- Diploma/ Certificate in Radiology.
- Valid annual practicing certificate where applicable.
- Minimum 1 year experience in hospital setting.
