Job description

• Formulate coating solutions with a strong understanding of raw materials, test methods and laboratory instruments.
• Plan and execute projects in collaboration with the global sales team, based on priorities, technical requirements and deadlines.
• Conduct lab-scale formulations, application tests and performance evaluations.
• Analyse results proactively, prepare technical reports and create presentations or technical bulletins as needed.
• Manage laboratory projects and provide technical support for the Coatings business, with a focus on industrial and construction coatings.
• Support customers by troubleshooting and providing technical solutions.
• Share technical findings and knowledge within the team.

Requirements

• Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science/Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field; Master’s or PhD preferred.
• At least 8 to 12 years of R&D or formulation experience in industrial coatings, paints, or surface treatment, including 3–5 years in a leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of formulation, performance testing, and industry standards.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 required; knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 is an advantage.
• Skilled in using and maintaining coatings testing equipment.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical data and results.
• Proficient in English; knowledge of Malay or other languages is an advantage.
