A furniture design company located in Seberang Perai is seeking a furniture designer to develop innovative concepts, create detailed technical drawings, and collaborate with production and marketing teams. Candidates should have a diploma or degree in relevant fields and 1–3 years of experience, with proficiency in design software. The ideal applicant is detail-oriented, creative, and able to work under pressure. This role offers an opportunity to innovate in furniture design and contribute to prototype development.
Develop new furniture concepts, sketches, mood boards, and product presentations.
Produce detailed 2D & 3D drawings using software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, SketchUp, or equivalent.
Prepare technical drawings, material specifications, and construction details.
Conduct research on market trends, materials, hardware, and new technologies.
Innovate improvements in design, ergonomics, and product durability.
Participate in prototype development and evaluate product performance.
Work closely with Production, QC, Marketing, and Purchasing to ensure design feasibility and cost accuracy.
Coordinate with suppliers for materials, hardware samples, and new components.
Support Sales/Marketing with design visuals and product information when required.
Monitor prototype creation and provide technical guidance to carpenters/engineers.
Review prototypes, identify design issues, and implement solutions.
Ensure all products meet functional, quality, and safety standards.
Maintain organized records of designs, drawings, BOM, and product revision history.
Prepare design guidelines, assembly guides, and production specifications.
Diploma/Degree in Industrial Design, Furniture Design, Product Design, or related fields.
Minimum 1–3 years experience in furniture design or R&D. (Fresh grads with strong portfolio encouraged to apply.)
Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, SketchUp, KeyShot, Illustrator).
Strong creativity with good understanding of industrial and furniture design principles.
Knowledge of materials such as wood, metal, upholstery, laminate, and hardware.
Strong understanding of production processes (CNC, machining, assembly, finishing).
Good communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Creative and detail oriented.
Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Strong sense of responsibility and initiative.
