Job summary

A construction firm in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Quantity Surveyor (QS) to handle pre and post-contract activities while ensuring compliance with quality management systems. The ideal candidate should hold a Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent, possess at least 3 years of relevant experience, and have good knowledge in contract administration and cost estimation. Job description

The QS is responsible for pre and post-contract activities of the Company complying with the Company’s quality management system and time-related targets set by the Project Manager or General Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for taking‑off quantities as and when required by Project Manager or General Manager.
  • Responsible for computing or obtaining prices or cost estimates as and when required by Project Manager or General Manager.
  • In tender or business proposal, tasks include, but not limited to, the following:
  • Responsible for computing or obtaining base prices;
  • Responsible or assists in obtaining pertinent information (e.g. materials, goods, products, sub‑contractors, labour, vendors, suppliers, manufacturer’s specifications, method statement, schedule of particulars, market condition present and projected, etc.);
  • Assists in coordinating compilation of tender document, checking for completeness/compliance and submission in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for pre‑qualification exercise of sub‑contractors and vendors to ensure that only suitably experienced and/or qualified sub‑contractors and vendors are shortlisted to be potentially awarded with sub‑contracts from the Company.
  • Responsible for preparation of Purchase Order and assists the Project Manager in compilation of sub‑contract for award.
  • Responsible for overall administration of project‑related claims (except for petty expenses), such as the following:
  • Timely preparation of claims and submission to Customer and;
  • Timely processing of sub‑contractors’ and vendors’ claim.
  • Responsible for registration of incoming construction drawings and implementing document control for assigned projects in accordance with the quality management system.
  • Assists in joint site measurements and carry out random audit on other site measurements, if necessary.
  • Ensures all QMS activities under the assigned Projects are implemented effectively.
  • Responsible for other duties and functions stipulated in the QMS documents.
Requirements
  • Candidate must possess a Bachelor Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 year's working experience.
  • Good knowledge of contract administration, cost estimation and well verse in pricing.
  • Experienced in both pre‑contract and post‑contract stage of construction works is an added advantage.
