Position: Quantity Surveyor
Role Overview
The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for cost estimation, tender pricing, cost control, and contract administration throughout the project lifecycle, from pre‑tender stage to final account closure.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Estimation & Bills of Quantities (BOQ)
- Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and detailed cost estimates based on drawings, specifications, and site information
- Break down costs by trade (civil, mechanical, electrical, etc.)
Tendering & Pricing
- Conduct rate analysis covering labour, materials, plant, and overheads
- Prepare competitive tender pricing using up‑to‑date vendor quotations
- Benchmark pricing against historical project costs
Subcontractor & Supplier Evaluation
- Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations for technical and commercial compliance with the BOQ
- Negotiate pricing and commercial terms with preferred vendors
Cost Control & Project Monitoring
- Monitor project costs against approved budgets
- Track variations, prepare variation orders (VO), and manage claims
Contract Administration
- Prepare and verify progress claims, payment certifications, and final accounts
- Ensure accurate documentation and cost reporting
Project Lifecycle Support
- Pre‑Tender: Prepare BOQ and obtain budgetary quotations
- Tender Stage: Price and submit competitive tenders
- Award Stage: Negotiate and issue purchase orders or subcontracts
- Construction: Track costs, control changes, and ensure compliance with specifications
- Post‑Completion: Finalize subcontractor accounts and close projects
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related field
- 2–3 years of relevant experience in quantity surveying within the construction or engineering industry
- Proficiency in Mandarin and/or Cantonese is preferred (to liaise with Chinese‑speaking counterparts)
