Job summary

A leading construction company in Kuala Lumpur seeks an experienced Quantity Surveyor to manage tender costing and project cost control for government projects. The ideal candidate has 3-5 years of QS experience, proficiency in MS Excel, CostX, AutoCAD, and strong analytical skills. Qualifications

Job description

Prepare tender costing, rate build-ups, BQ reviews, and cost estimates for government projects (JKR, JPS, PETRA).

Analyse drawings, specifications, and contract documents in compliance with PWD 203/203A, JKR Standard Specifications & Schedule of Rates.

Manage pre- and post-contract activities including tender queries, site visits, and contract evaluations.

Prepare monthly progress claims, subcontractor claims, re-measurement, and joint measurement with consultants/clients.

Monitor and control project cost, budget forecasting, and prepare monthly cost reports.

Prepare and submit Variation Orders (VO), new rates, and cost justifications; track approvals.

Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers/subcontractors; prepare comparison sheets and LOA/LOI.

Maintain full commercial documentation, VO log, procurement records, and compliance files (JKR/JPS).

Coordinate with project managers, site teams, consultants, and government officers on QS matters.

Prepare and finalise Final Account for clients and subcontractors.

Job Responsibilities

  • Handle contract administration: payment certificates, EOT supporting documents, formal correspondence.

  • Coordinate with project managers, site teams, consultants, and government officers on QS matters.

Job Requirements

  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and commercial awareness.

  • Excellent communication and ability to coordinate with consultants, contractors, and government authorities.

  • Able to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple assignments.
