Job summary

A manufacturing company in Penang is seeking a Quality Inspector to perform inspections on incoming materials and outgoing parts. The ideal candidate will hold a Certificate or Diploma in Engineering, possess strong analytical skills, and be familiar with QA measuring instruments. Responsibilities include verifying product compliance with specifications and reporting quality issues. Attention to detail and the ability to interpret technical drawings are essential for success in this role. Knowledge of CMM operation is advantageous.

Job description
Responsibilities
  • Perform inspection on incoming materials and purchased parts for defects or deviations from specifications and standards by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, rejecting and returning unacceptable materials.
  • Perform inspection on outgoing machining parts or components for defects or deviations from specifications and standards by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, returning products for rework and confirming rework.
  • Read and interpret materials, work orders, inspection manuals, meters, engineering diagrams and blueprints to determine inspection and test procedures.
  • Keep measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions and calling for repairs.
  • Report quality problems or findings to QA Supervisor and follow up to ensure that corrective action is done.
  • Interact with Production and Engineering departments to ensure compliance with specification and to facilitate the acceptance of parts.
  • Transfer all QA accepted machining parts or components to Store & Logistic for storage, special process or for shipment to customer in a timely manner.
  • Maintain safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.

Qualifications
  • Certificate or Diploma in any Engineering related field; or at least 1 to 3 years of related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret technical drawings.
  • Ability to handle QA measuring instruments and equipment.
  • Strong analytical skills in resolving quality issues.
  • Knowledge of CMM operation and programming is an advantage.
  • Thorough and detail oriented.
  • Should work well with established process and with people.
