A leading lighting and electrical solutions company is seeking a Purchasing Manager to oversee purchasing operations and logistics. The role requires a Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 10 years in purchasing, including 3 years specifically sourcing from China. Strong negotiation skills in Mandarin and ability to lead a team are essential. The candidate will develop purchasing strategies, maintain supplier relationships, and ensure timely logistics compliance. Experience with ERP systems and customs procedures is beneficial.
Oversea Lighting & Electric (M) Sdn Bhd – Balakong, Selangor
Proven yearly cost saving 3–5% minimum.
Develop, implement, and improve purchasing strategies, policies, and SOPs.
Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure best pricing, quality, and delivery terms.
Approve purchase requests and purchase orders in accordance with company policies.
Oversee supplier pre‑qualification, evaluation, and performance monitoring.
Managed at least 30 China suppliers & at least 50 Malaysia suppliers.
Maintain strong relationships with local and overseas suppliers.
Monitor suppliers’ performance on delivery, quality, and service reliability.
Identify, evaluate, and qualify new suppliers to ensure supply continuity.
Oversee import/export operations including shipping documents (invoice, packing list, sales contract, COO, etc.).
Coordinate closely with forwarders, transporters, and customs for smooth clearance.
Ensure all logistics activities comply with Malaysia customs regulations.
Ensure shipments meet scheduled timelines and resolve any logistics issues promptly.
Work with internal departments to plan and maintain optimal inventory levels.
Monitor item codes, pricing, goods ordered/received, and system accuracy.
Improve delivery lead time, schedule, and quantity coordination.
Strong leadership – will manage 4 Purchasing Executives.
Lead, mentor, and manage the purchasing team for high performance.
Prepare cost analysis, purchasing reports, supplier performance reviews, and budgeting forecasts.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives and cost‑saving programs.
Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or any related field.
Minimum 10 years of proven experience as a Purchasing Manager.

Minimum 3 years China sourcing experience (Lighting, electrical, metal, or hardware industry).
Able to negotiate in Mandarin with China factories.
Strong in import shipment, forwarder coordination, HS code, CO, CIQ, customs clearance.
Strong knowledge in procurement, import/export, shipping documents, customs handling, and inventory management.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, ERP systems, SQL system; familiarity with ISO 9001 is an added advantage.
Strong negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.
Able to work independently in a fast‑paced and challenging environment.
Organized, analytical, result‑driven, and able to manage multiple tasks.
Required Languages: Mandarin, Bahasa Malaysia, English (due to interaction with Mandarin‑speaking suppliers).
