Job summary

A leading Banking IT Solutions provider in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to oversee key core banking projects. The successful candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in project management within the IT or banking sectors, preferably with knowledge of Core Banking systems. They will be responsible for driving project execution, managing risks, and ensuring financial objectives are met. Fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia is essential, and PMP certification is a plus.

Purpose of the Role

As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for drive and manage the project planning, execution, and completion of projects. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including the business consulting team, R & D team, and other stakeholders such as the clients, to ensure successful project delivery in alignment with ours as well as the clients' organizational goals and objectives.

Job Duties
  • Plan and drive the project execution across all technical and functional areas to achieve the project goals, including forming, recruiting, selecting, coaching, counselling, delegating, scheduling and disciplining employees.
  • Appraise and review the project team in terms of job contribution, and make rewards/compensation recommendations.
  • Enforce compliance to project delivery operation and governance policies/procedures.
  • Ensure perfect communication via various communication methods (push, pull, teleconference, etc.) across regions remotely. Weekly/Monthly regular updates must be delivered to all project stakeholders.
  • Register and mitigate all sorts of project risks with a proper risk response plan.
  • Monitor sub-contractors / vendors to ensure delivery on time and on budget.
  • Enforce project financial discipline, including budget allocation and presentation, payment milestones and assist financial department on billing/collection.
  • Meet project financial objectives / KPI, by forecasting requirements, preparing project budget in its entirety, scheduling expenditures including OPE, analysing the financial impact variances and initiating corrective actions.
  • Enhance organization and division reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and always exploring opportunities to add value to the role played.
  • Work alongside the Project Director and HOD on other project management related duties, which include but not limited to participating in assisting the delivery team, sales, and solutions to organize company-level project evaluation work.
Qualifications
  • Preferred graduates with a degree in IT or Business Management. Graduates from other disciplines might be considered if they have relevant job experiences.
  • At least 3 years of Project Management working experience in the IT, Fintech or banking industry.
  • Possessing project experience in the Core Banking domain and IT background will be a strong added advantage.
  • Possesses fluent understanding and application of end-to-end Project Management methodology, and deliverables in SDLC processes.
  • Proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia. Other languages such as Mandarin, Thai, Bahasa Indonesia, Vietnamese or Tagalog will be an added advantage.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certified will be an added advantage.
  • Willing to travel within Malaysia and Southeast Asian region (if needed).
