Job description

The Project Manager plans, directs and coordinates activities of designated project(s) to ensure that goals or objectives of project are defined and accomplished within prescribed time frames and funding parameters – by providing guidance, direction, and support to the managers and staff involved in these projects. This will be accomplished by maintaining Tecomet principles of Safety, Quality, Customer Satisfaction and Innovations and by ensuring through governance that there is strong collaboration between the different functional areas involved in the project(s), ensuring effective planning and execution of project activities.

The Project Manager also coordinates non-project sustaining activities with other department managers and local customer focus teams. In addition, the Project Manager will act as the key interface between manufacturing operations, design, account management, business development and the customer.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITES

Reviews project proposals or plan to determine time frame, procedures for accomplishing project(s), and allotment of available resources to various phases of projects. Ensures collaborative cross-functional project team participation to effectively initiate, plan, execute, monitor and control all phases of a project or subproject to ensure work efforts are executed on time, within budget, and according to established requirements reliably and repeatedly.

Manages customer relationships and acts as the key escalation point for all product programs, projects and operational performance issues.

Communicate with customers to help develop a product that meets or exceeds customer and Tecomet needs. Manages the process to ensure Customers’ expectations are clearly defined, understood and communicated across the appropriate Tecomet organizations.

Assists and monitors resources for manufacture, assembly, test, and package of medical instruments.

Provides the necessary leadership and support to manage projects in line with project management processes and associated policies and procedures.

Serves as primary internal and external communication conduit for assigned accounts or projects.

Interacts between sales, marketing, customers, and operations, communicating project priorities. Confers with project personnel to resolve problems.

Provides input to the sales and operations planning process and ensures that Tecomet entities have sufficient organizational and operational readiness in support of the future needs of the Customer (e.g. manufacturing capacity, technical capability, etc.)

Prepares project status reports and maintains/updates and schedules/coordinates project meetings – for management, clients or others.

Ensure effective and timely customer complaints and corrective action processing of any performance and customer service-related issues

Ensures cost reduction plans are in place and actively drive them to meet both internal and customer targets.

Actively manages and drive improvement actions related to customer satisfaction to achievement levels of performance that exceeds customer requirements

Responsible for resolution of any customer satisfaction or service-related issues.

Maintains and supports a culture where safety, quality, schedule and cost are the main focal points with a continuous improvement mentality.

Projects a positive and professional image of the company and management to employees and customers at all levels.

Additional functions and requirements may be assigned by supervisor/management as deemed appropriate.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Comprehensive understanding of manufacturing operations including Supply Chain, Quality, Manufacturing etc.

Experience and willingness to be involved in manufacturing operations are highly desired.

Medical devices or regulated industry experience highly preferred.

Strong knowledge and proficiency in problem solving processes and techniques.

Analyze and proactively look for issues that may delay delivery.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Ability to interface and communicate with different levels of the organization. Includes ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

Strong business acumen and a complete understanding of successful business models.

Ability to manage though influence.

Be conversant and have a good working knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma.

Ability to interpret financial statements and understand business KOI’s and their drivers.

Competent in contract negotiation and service level agreement development

Willing to travel to other Tecomet sites (US/Europe) or customer sites for project transfers / new product development activities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree (B.A) and/or 5 to 10 years related experience; or equivalent combination education and experience. Experience in working with customers, sales and marketing and engineering is preferred.
