The GTPC department in Malaysia is a centralized leadership of all import and export departments throughout Mr. DIY worldwide and central oversight of technology for shipment planning and execution, facilitating the movement of cargo to and from different countries. Planning, monitoring, measuring, and supervising import and export shipments to deliver compelling cost efficiencies and essential strategic capabilities. Managing stakeholders and ensuring that shipments comply with domestic laws as well as international export, trade and financial laws.
We are looking for a proactive and ambitious individual to join our Global Trade & Product Compliance project team. The role involves managing and coordinating all aspects of import and export logistics for projects, ensuring compliance with project timelines, overseeing trade and product compliance regulations, controlling logistics costs, and providing high-quality reporting. This position is based in Balakong Industrial Park, Malaysia.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Trade Management
- Oversee import and export activities, ensuring compliance with shipping regulations and trade requirements.
- Manage logistics schedules, ensuring alignment with project timelines and objectives.
- Analyse logistics data (e.g., delivery backlogs, fulfilment metrics, lead-time, invoice and costs) to identify issues and implement solutions.
- Support internal teams in optimizing shipping processes and implementing logistical solutions.
- Review shipping documents for accuracy and ensure smooth operations.
Regulatory Affairs & Product Compliance Management
- Ensure compliance with local HS codes, import regulations, and international product standards (Household, Medical, Appliances, F&B, Cosmetic, etc.).
- Liaise with country local team and third-party consultants for obtaining quotation, product approvals and manage compliance certificates, licenses, and permits.
- Track and analyse compliance performance metrics to support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with the Local Import team to resolve any issues during the importation process.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to product compliance.
- Monitor and report on legislative changes, advising management on the impact of evolving regulations.
- Maintain and update regulatory files/ database including reports, licenses, permits and certificates for internal record keeping.
- Manage and maintain a tracking log for all compliance regulatory safety certificates, licenses, permits, and related documents.
General Responsibilities
- Attend project meetings to provide updates and address issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in any Supply Chain/Business Management field and min. 2 years of experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in regulatory compliance roles within similar industries, with a comprehensive understanding of relevant regulations and standards.
- Good understanding of local regulations and compliance obligations, Customs operation and HS codes knowledge.
- Familiar and experience in working with 3rd party agencies and within ISO or product compliance environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with individuals at all levels. Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and adaptable to change.
- Ability to ‘think out of the box’ for problem-solving and ability to contribute ideas to address operational issues.
- Proficient in both Mandarin and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills, as the role requires frequent collaboration with counterparts in China.
