A construction and development firm in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Project Engineer to support the successful execution of construction projects. This role includes reviewing design drawings, conducting site inspections, and supervising contractors to ensure compliance with safety standards and timelines. Candidates must have a diploma or degree in Civil Engineering and 2–3 years of relevant experience. Proficiency in MS Project and AutoCAD is essential. This position offers an opportunity to work on residential and commercial projects while adhering to Malaysian regulations.
Purpose of Role : The Project Engineer is responsible for supporting the successful execution of construction and development projects from planning to completion. This role combines engineering technical support with site supervision and monitoring ensuring compliance with design, specifications, safety standards, and project timelines. The Project Engineer acts as the bridge between the project management team, consultants, contractors, and site operations.
Assist in reviewing design drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.
Support in preparing project schedules, progress reports, and method statements.
Coordinate with consultants, authorities, and suppliers to ensure smooth technical approvals.
Assist in material submission reviews and ensure compliance with project requirements.
Provide engineering solutions to minor site issues and elevate major issues to the Project Manager.
Conduct daily site inspections to monitor workmanship, quality, and safety compliance.
Supervise contractors, subcontractors, and workers to ensure adherence to plans and standards.
Monitor construction progress against schedule and highlight any delays or risks.
Ensure compliance with QLASSIC, ISO standards, and relevant CIDB requirements.
Verify and record site progress for claims, valuation, and certification purposes.
Attend and report in site meetings, providing accurate updates to management.
Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in construction or developer environment (internship experience can be considered for Junior Engineers).
Exposure to residential, commercial, or mixed‑development projects preferred.
Familiarity with Malaysian construction regulations, standards, and authority requirements (MBPJ, DBKL, CIDB, etc.).
Strong understanding of engineering drawings, construction methodology, and site supervision.
Knowledge of quality assurance and safety practices.
Proficiency in MS Project, AutoCAD, and MS Office.
Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to coordinate with contractors and site teams.
