Purpose Statement: The Program Manager leads the tactical interface between the customer and various Plexus functional areas. This position is responsible for leading the Customer Focus Team (CFT) and managing the day-to-day customer relationship, serving as the “voice of Plexus” to the customer and the “voice of the customer” to Plexus.
Responsibilities:
- Meet revenue and customer growth objectives for Plexus by managing Program Managers and Customer teams, working closely with quoting, manufacturing & materials.
- Understand and drive the customer P&L (sales, margins, mark‑ups), contribution goals, inventory goals and specific cost drivers.
- Collaborate with site leadership on customer initiatives, prioritizing capacity conflicts and coordinating site revenue/P&L improvements.
- Manage site staff of Program Managers to assure adequate coverage for the site’s customer base, making adjustments as needed.
- Generate and manage customer management budgets.
- Direct the Program Management team to ensure a successful transition of new business.
- Create & develop profitable new business opportunities with existing and new transition customers.
- Maintain close working relationships with Plexus customer managers, directors and account executives to provide customer service excellence.
- Maintain a basic understanding of, and ensure adherence to, customer contracts and/or material agreements.
Requirements:
- Degree with minimum 5‑8 years of working experience or equivalent in EMS companies.
- Assertive, self‑motivated, able to work independently and in a team environment.
- Strong problem‑solving, prioritizing and multitasking skills, continuously improving processes and capabilities.
- Excellent oral and written communication, organizational and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to discern alignment of customer requests and actions against contractual stipulations and accepted business conditions.
- Create presentations, documents, etc. for management and customers to communicate business problems and solutions.
- Demonstrate management skills as defined by company leadership development.
- Familiarity with financial metrics and levers that drive the metrics; ability to develop and implement improvement actions.
- Ability to learn the operating facets of the Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) industry.
